Evelyn M. Donithan

Evelyn M. "Snooks" Donithan passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Milton on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Born February 27, 1934 in Mt. Clare, W.V., she was the daughter of Emerson and Pansy Lemons. Evelyn was a 1952 graduate of Sutton High School in Sutton, W.V.; while attending there, she met the love of her life, Jim, and they were married on December 29, 1952 and remained married until Jim's passing in 2014. Evelyn moved to Lake Milton in 1968. She enjoyed crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, painting ceramics, bowling, and spending time with her family. For many years, she attended various sporting events at Jackson-Milton, West Branch, and Western Reserve High Schools supporting her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Post 737 Ladies Auxiliary, Jackson-Milton Athletic Boosters, and different bowling leagues over the years, the last one being The Golden Gals of Wedgewood Lanes. Evelyn was an avid college basketball fan, her favorite being Duke Blue Devils. Evelyn will always be remembered with much love, admiration, and gratitude by her children: Barb (the late Lloyd) Sapp of Lake Milton, Bev VanSteenburg of Lordstown, Becki (Dean) Chick of Berlin Center, Jim (Kim) Donithan of Lake Milton, John (Connie) Donithan of Diamond, Jeff (Stacey) Donithan of Berlin Center, and Belinda Bogden of Austintown; special niece Brenda Medina of Clarkburg, W.V.; her "other children" Gary (Lisa) Morris, Cindy Slider, and Judy Hammond; 12 grandchildren: Amy, Jenny, and Mark VanSteenburg, Todd Paulsey, Emily and Maverick Chick, Cole and Nina Donithan, Amanda and Morgn Donithan, and Chelsea and Taylor Bogden; 12 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband Jim and her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers Jack and Ray, and a grand-daughter Jacie Paulsey Christoff. Friends will be received at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Thursday from 5-7PM with a Memorial Service immediately to follow at 7:00PM. A celebration of her life will be held at the Fifth Season Banquet Center following the services.
