Evelyn M. Goeller

June 26, 1920 — October 21, 2014

Services will be held at 3 PM Saturday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Evelyn M. Goeller, 94, of Austintown who went home to the Lord on Tuesday evening at the Hospice House surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born June 26, 1920 in Niles, Ohio, a daughter of George and Martha (Habeger) Baker. She attended Austintown Fitch High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, played violin, and met the love of her life, Carl G. Goeller, graduating in 1939. She and Carl were married December 31, 1941, in Youngstown. They moved into the Habeger family farm house, a wedding gift from her mother. Many years of renovations were done and it remains the lovely home it is today, where Evelyn continued to live, proudly telling the home has been in the family for 114 years and is recognized by the Austintown Historical Society. Her amazing knowledge of family history she passed down to her nieces to preserve for generations. Evelyn was a home maker, with a great love for the outdoors, animals, birds, and flowers. Special times were spent with her husband on vacations, boat trips, listening to music, and reading poetry to each other. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Goeller Adjustment Co. for many years. Happy summers were spent at their cottage at Lake Milton. She loved both the sail boat and pontoon boat and enjoyed quiet times fishing from them. The cottage was always open to family and friends where good times made lifetime memories for many. Evelyn was a member of the Austintown Community Church, being honored as a 50 year member a few years ago. She loved singing in the choir with her husband and friends. She was a member of Ruth Circle, working on the Canfield Fair project and making hundreds of lap robes with "the girls" to donate to area homes. Her husband of 58 years, passed away August 5, 1999. Evelyn will be sadly missed by her son Bruce C. (Debbie) Goeller, of Youngstown; her grandson Eric (Lisa) Goeller of Ft. Myers, Florida; her great grandson Evan Goeller, of Ft. Myers, Florida; her sister, Patricia Woodworth, of Canfield; nieces Nancy Farmer, Wendy (Bill) Racki, and Shelby Dickey, all of Youngstown. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Kenneth (Ruth) Baker, and her nephew, Kenneth Baker II. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Hospice House for the compassionate care given during her stay and requests material contributions be made to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd. Poland, Ohio 44514. Family and friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, where services will be held at 3 p.m.
