Evelyn M. Ekonomon, age 86 formerly of Howland died Monday, April 13, 2015, at The Briarwood Healthcare in Stow. She was born August 8, 1928 in Huntington, West Virginia the daughter of the late Harry and Edith Robison Hanlon. Evelyn and her husband, Eugene lived on Old Farm Trail in Howland for over 30 years. Evelyn graduated from Bexley High School in the Columbus area. She worked for 25 years at Alba House Christian bookstore in the Eastwood Mall, retiring in 2000. Evelyn had been a member of the Howland and Niles United Methodist Churches. She had been a member of the Howland Garden Club and had served as a volunteer at the Hillside Hospital gift shop. Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Laura (Ray) Gorby of Summerville, SC; one son, Adam Ekonomon of Silver Lake, OH; one grandson, Michael (Erica) Gorby of Summerville; one great grandson, Liam Gorby and one great granddaughter, Stella Gorby. Her husband, Eugene R. Ekonomon, whom she married February 9, 1946 preceded her in death August 3, 2005. A private graveside service will be held Friday morning at Howland Township Cemetery, where burial will be held. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren.
