Ferne Elizabeth Oliver, 89 Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Greenford Lutheran Church, 7450 West South Range Rd., Greenford for Ferne E. Oliver, 89, formerly of Greenford Township who died early Thursday morning. Ferne was born September 19, 1925 in Stanley, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Clarence and Edith Barnhizer Gnagy. Ferne was a registered nurse, graduating from the Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing and attended Ohio State University. She had worked at Northside and Southside Hospitals in Youngstown and University Hospital in Columbus and also Salem Hospital, retiring in 1978. Ferne was a member of Greenford Lutheran Church, Canfield AARP #3104 and had been a 4-H advisor for 33 years. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a member of a retired nurses group. Her husband, Myron C. Oliver, whom she married August 22, 1950, died March 5, 1994. She leaves a daughter, Janice L. (John) Knittle of Boardman three sons, Jeffrey M. (Jeanne) Oliver of Twinsburg, Jon (Lori) Oliver of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Jerry (Cyndy) Oliver of Winthrop, Washington, and a daughter-in-law Debbie Oliver of Columbiana. Ferne also leaves 13 grandchildren, Brandon (Jill), Jason (Kristden), Jaimie, Jonathan (Dana), Nathan (Ren), Megan, Jared, Jenna (Will), Dan, Ian, Dylan, Emma and Derek and two great-grandsons, Austin and Lochlan. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, J. Robert Oliver; two sisters, Jane Bianchi and Lois Edwards and two brothers, Floyd Gnagy and Rev. Robert Gnagy. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Greenford Lutheran Church, P.O.
