Flora E. Kappler

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday at Paradise United Church of Christ for Flora E. Kappler who passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon at the Hospice House. Flora was born March 30, 1928, in Struthers a daughter of the late Alec and Reberta (Straley) Bowie. She had worked at Less Farms for 25 years retiring in 1979. Flora was an active member of Word of God Christian Fellowship in Canfield. She helped bake kolachi for several church events. She also volunteered at the Way Station, enjoyed playing cards and family activities including Sunday drives and family cookouts. Her husband, August H. Kappler, whom she married July 24, 1952, passed away January 5, 2001. Flora will be sadly missed by her three children: Karen Kappler of Salem, Kenneth Kappler of New Springfield, and Robert (Pam) Kappler of North Lima; a step daughter Jean (Bill) Alger of California; one sister: Peggy (Burt) Tupper of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren: Amy (Bret) Dorfman, Kelly, Mary, and Jordan Kappler. Besides her parents and husband, Flora is preceded in death by a brother Charles Bowie; a sister Ethel Mae Jones; and a step son George Kappler. Memorial contributions may be made to Word of God Christian Fellowship Building Fund, or the Hospice House in Flora’s name. Friends may call from 4 pm until 7 pm Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel and again from 10 am until the time of the services Wednesday at Paradise United Church of Christ.
