Floyd David Bair

Floyd David Bair, 91 CANFIELD Floyd David Bair, 91, passed away Oct. 16, 2012, at Hospice of the Valley in Boardman. Floyd was born in Alliance, on April 12, 1921, the son of Norman and Mary Link Bair. He graduated from Jackson Milton High School. He was a member of the CCC. During the second World War, he served in the Merchant Marines for the duration of the war. He was employed as a counselor for Service Corporation International of Texas, covering the East Coast. When his wife retired, they traveled the country together in his motor home, which he loved. He enjoyed working tirelessly on his home and property from early morning to late into the evening, even up to two weeks before his passing. In his final days, he told his family, I just ran outta gas. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Genevieve Jean; daughters Sandra (James) Welch of Santa Ana, Calif., Jacqueline (Robert) Kendall of Madison Heights, Va., Diane Davidson of Canfield, and Sharon (Alan) Sipos of Brownsburg, Ind.; sons Gregory (Contance) Bair of Hudson, Fla., Christopher Bair of Lakeridge, Va., and Brian Bair of Youngstown; and his buddy, Jack Raver. He also leaves his grandchildren, Amy Tolin, Kara (Chad) Girton, Raquel (Brad) Scheetz, Jessica Bair, Stephanie (Ellis) Bair, Emilie Bair, Andrea Knauber, and Ashley and Robert Jastrab. He leaves three great-grandchildren, Samantha McElroy, Chase Girton, and Natasha Knauber. Floyd was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Robert, and Kermit; sisters Norma, Marita, and Helen; son-in-law Thomas Boucherle; and daughter-in-law Melissa. The family would sincerely like to thank Dr. Jose Ambrose Sr. and Dr. Nicholas Antansoff for their years of care, the nursing staff in Emergency, Intensive Care, and others at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Boardman, Hospice of the Valley in Boardman, and neighbors Bob and Ann Metzinger for their support over the years. Funeral services will be at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, preceded by calling hours at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Green Haven Memorial Garden with military honors provided by Ellsworth VFW Post 9571. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Hospice of the Valley in Floyds memory.
