Floyd E. Beike, Jr. of Canfield, passed away at 1:21 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 in his home with his family by his side. Floyd was 68 years old. Floyd was born on March 28, 1942 in Struthers, Ohio the son of the late Floyd E. Sr. and Florence (Mohr) Beike and was a 1960 graduate of Boardman High School. Floyd furthered his education at Youngstown State University and served an electrical apprenticeship. Floyd retired in 2004 from IBEW Local 64 where he was an electrician for 44 years. Floyd served as an instructor for the electrical apprentice program and served on the apprenticeship committee. Floyd was a veteran of the United States Army. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown, Floyd served as an usher and volunteered in various capacities for the church. He enjoyed volunteering his time and talent for local hospitals and nursing homes. Floyd is survived by his wife the former Patricia Polachek, whom he married on July 2, 1966; two sons Frederick (Amy) Beike of Canfield and Paul (Amy) Beike of Gilbert, AZ; a sister Barbara (Norman) Best of Kempner, TX and three grandchildren Joseph, Jessica and Nicolas Beike. Calling hours for Floyd will take place on Monday, January 10, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio 44515 and again on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the vestibule of the church. A Mass of Christian will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in St. Joseph Catholic Church 4545 New Road, Austintown, Ohio 44515 with Fr. Gregory Fedor officiating.
