Funeral services will be held 11am Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Floyd W. Diehl, Jr., 85, who died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown. He was born November 21, 1925 in Kittanning, the son of Floyd W. and Lena B. (Bowser) Diehl, Sr., and he came to this area in 1958. He was a 1943 graduate of Fountain Hill High School. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WW II. After his military service he achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University. He worked as chief electrical engineer for Wean United Corp. for over 40 years before retiring. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and he enjoyed making model trains and airplanes. He married the former Betty F. Fehnel on November 17, 1951 and she preceded him in death March 20, 2010. He is survived by three children; Craig Diehl of Youngstown, Bruce Diehl of Vienna, and Carin (Robert) Barnhart of Poland. He also leaves behind three grandchildren; John Rockney of Las Vegas, Christie Bako of Girard, and Cailey Barnhart of Poland; and a great grandson, Chandler Jones. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call for one hour prior to services from 10-11am Friday at the funeral home.
