Frances Joann Burkey

Austintown- A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am Saturday morning at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Frances Burkey who died Tuesday morning at her residence. Frances was born October 21, 1923 in Uniontown, PA. the daughter of Joseph A. and Frances (Machesky) Sadosky. Frances was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where she also had been a former member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She loved to bowl, formerly bowling with Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Suburban Light Bowling Leagues. Frances loved to travel, crochet, bake and spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by children, William H. (Sherri) Burkey of Austintown, Norma (Michael) DeOerio of Boardman, Virginia (Ginger) Kellish of Austintown and Karen Womer of Austintown. She is also survived by sisters, Helen Grondolsky of Campbell, Mary Kjersgaard of New Jersey, Veronica Domko of Campbell, Cecelia Bradley of Warren, PA. brothers, Andrew Sadosky of Uniontown, PA., Edward Sadosky of Youngstown, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her husband Herschel William (Bill) Burkey whom she married November 17, 1944 and who died April 8, 1980, grandson Scott Burkey who died January 12, 2007, sisters, Sophie Kolat, Agnes Sadosky, Viola Sadosky and brothers, John Sadosky, Anthony Sadosky, and Joseph Sadosky. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm Friday evening at Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. Prayers will begin Saturday morning at 9:30 am at the funeral home prior to church services. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to MVI Hospice Youngstown Chapter.
