A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Vienna on Saturday May 7, 2011 beginning at 10:00AM for Frances (Kozel) Pilarcik, 78, of Vienna, OH who passed away on Tuesday evening May 3, 2011 at the St. Joseph’s Health Center in Warren, OH. Mrs. Pilarcik was born on October 13, 1932, a daughter John and Helen (Bednar) Kozel in Fayette City, PA. She graduated from Marion High School in 1950, and moved to Warren in 1951. Later she and her husband Paul E. Pilarcik whom she married on September 5, 1953, moved to Andover, OH and in 1958 they returned to the area building a home in Vienna where she continued to live. Fran worked in the office of Wean Engineering, was a reporter for the Warren Tribune Chronicle, and had been the Vienna Township Zoning Board Secretary. She had also worked as the principal of Religious Education at St. Vincent De Paul Church for more than twenty years before her retirement in 1989. Presently she was the church’s Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Women’s Guild. In 1986 she helped organize a Trivia Club which continues to be active and whose members are among her closest dearest friends. She was very active in many school and community organizations including the Vienna Citizen’s Committee where she served as secretary, and had been the Treasurer of the Vienna Memorial Committee. Her hobbies and active pursuits included oil painting, flower gardening, arranging crafts, traveling as well as reading. She is survived by her daughters Kate Pilarcik of Bristol, CT, Lorri (Ken) Latiolais of Spokane, WA; her sons David (Megan) Pilarcik of Yucaipa, CA, James (Debbie) Pilarcik of Hudson, OH, and Jeff Pilarcik of Columbus, OH. She was blessed and adored her grandchildren Jesse, Heather, Julie, Josh, Meaghan, Andrew, Sydney, Autumn, and Hope, three great-grandchildren Nicolas, Evan and Olivia; her brother John Kozel of Andover, OH and sister Florence Kozel Pilarcik of Clarkston, MI. Preceding her in death were her parents and by her husband Paul who passed away on September 21, 2010. The family will receive friends on Friday May 6, 2011 from 4-7 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel in Brookfield, OH. Closing Prayers will begin at 9:15AM at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the Mass. Burial will be with her husband at the Vienna Township Cemetery.
