A Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10am Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Mineral Ridge for Frank M. Borecki, 68, who died early Monday morning at St. Joseph Medical Center in Warren. He was born January 4, 1940 in Youngstown, the son of Frank B. and Rose (Moransky) Borecki. He was a 1957 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School and he attended Youngstown State University. He was a metallurgical engineer for 47 years and he helped to develop today's widely used ISO Standards. He worked for several companies during his career, most recently WCI Steel, until his retirement in June of this year. He was an active member of St. Mary's Church. He was also past President of the American Society of Metals and he enjoyed fishing and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Elaine S. He also leaves behind five children; Frank (Debra) Borecki of Lewisville, Texas; Tim Borecki of Mineral Ridge; Ted (Shirley) Borecki of Lexington, Ky; Laura (Dave) Shimko of Wintersville; and Matt (Molly) Borecki of Liberty; four grandchildren; Sarah and Connor Borecki; and Ashley and Kristen Shimko; and his beloved dog Sandy. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 5-8pm Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
