Fred A. Cochran, age 73, of Cortland, Ohio, died Monday, August 28, 2006, at 11:58 AM, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio. He was born on April 27, 1933 in Edinburg, PA., the son of the late George Cochran and the late Helen Body Cochran. Mr. Cochran is retired from Copperweld Steel where he had worked for 35 years. Fred had served as a volunteer for the Cortland Volunteer Fire Department, and was currently working for Heritage Florist as a driver. He was an avid Steelers fan who enjoyed golfing, playing cards, going to the horse races and spending time at R-Cigars in Cortland. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Catherine 'Kay' (Lyons) Cochran, whom he married on July 20, 1956. A son, Douglas (Kimberly) Cochran of Maricopa, AZ., Three Daughters, Dawn James of Peoria, AZ., Kimberly Morton of Niles, Ohio and Karen (John) O'Connor of Bazetta Twp., a sister, Ardyth (Frank) Barton of Newcastle, PA., and two brothers, John (Ruth) Cochran and Donald Cochran both of Newcastle, PA. Fred is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel, 164 North High Street, Cortland, Ohio, where the family will receive friends from 6 PM - 8 PM Thursday, August 31, 2006. Funeral services will be at the Funeral Home, Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at 11 AM.
