Fred Dean Northcutt

Fred (Dean) Northcutt, 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at home. He was born February 1st, 1932 in Crawfordsville, Indiana the son of Charles and Cecil Northcutt. Dean met Doris Perman in Crawfordsville, Indiana, and they were married April 10th, 1952; they later established their home in Howland, Ohio. He began work at Halsey Taylor Co. and Copperweld before being hired as a crane operator at Van Huffel Tube, retiring after 31 years. Those who knew him well knew him at work as "Slim". To friends and family alike he was truly a family man, no matter who came to visit, he always asked about their loved ones and showed he cared. He loved playing cards and going out to eat with his wife and friends, Phyllis and Don. He also had an interest in woodworking and Indy car races. Fred is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter, Barbara (Dennis) Crites; grandson, Steven (Michelle) Cerny; granddaughter, Kailynn Cerny; great grandchildren, Jacquelyn and Teegen Cerny; and brother, Jim (Joyce) Northcutt. Fred was preceded in death by his daughters, Debbie and Karen; brothers, Kenneth Routh, Robert Northcutt, Charles 'Bill' Northcutt and Eddie Northcutt; sisters, Mary Hart, Aileen Turpin, Betty Pittman, and Carolyn Alexander. Calling hours at Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel (180 Garfield Drive NE) will be held Sunday, June 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24th at 11:00am with viewing one hour prior, with Pastor Paul Leone officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
