Fred Ray Miller Sr.

Fred R. Miller Sr., 92, passed away Friday evening, May 15, 2015 at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren. He was born on March 12, 1923 in Warren, a son of Ellwood and Viola (Mossrush) Miller. Fred was a veteran of the United States Army. He served his country during WWII in the military police from February 11, 1943 to August 1, 1945, receiving a Sharp Shooter Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with a bronze star, and the American Campaign Medal. He was employed with Warren City Schools for 15 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Warren Revival Center and Disabled American Veterans in Warren. He enjoyed playing music, dancing, making crafts, and traveling and camping with his wife, Pauline. Fred was always there to lend a helping hand to his family and he loved to take care of his two grandchildren. Fred will be deeply missed by his son Fred R. Miller Jr. (Connie) of Warren, OH; his daughter Gayle (David) Hillier of Cleveland, OH; two grandchildren, Jodi (Jason) Pleacher of Champion, OH and Arron (Paula) Miller of Pittsburgh, PA; one great-granddaughter, Leah Pleacher of Champion, OH; and one brother, Robert Miller both of Cortland, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline Miller, whom he married on October 15, 1949 and passed away on September 22, 2014; three brothers, Raymond, William and Harry Miller and one sister, Janet Lenhart. Services for Fred will take place on Tuesday May 19, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, where Fred will be laid to rest next to his wife.
