Geza Nemeth

Geza Nemeth died on April 13, 2015 at Vista Care Center at the Ridge. He was born May 6, 1933, in Gyor, Hungary, the son of Geza and Ana (Takacs) Nemeth. He was educated in Hungary, and served in the Hungarian Army for 4 years. Geza came to the United States on January 1, 1957, due to the revolution in Hungary. He worked for Brinks as a truck driver, and retired in 1985. He was also a member of St. Stephen of Hungary Parish, Youngstown, Ohio. Geza was a professional boxer and was called the Hungarian Freedom Fighter (1956-1962). Geza once fought exhibition boxing matches against Sugar Ray Robinson and Sonny Liston. He loved to travel, playing bingo, and he loved spending time with his family. Geza is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Scott) Castagnola, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; his two grandsons, Nicholas Castagnola, of Seven Hills, Ohio, and Eric Castagnola, of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; his sister, Eva of Hungary. In addition to his parents, Geza was preceded in death by his wife Ida Nemeth, who died on February 24, 1994; his son, Geza Edward Nemeth; his two siblings who died before Geza's birth; his sister, Ilona, of Hungary; his two brothers, Laszlo Nemeth, of Niles, Ohio, and Jeno Nemeth, of Hungary. Burial will be private at All Saints Cemetery, Northfield, Ohio.
