Gary Andrew Evans

Gary A. Evans, 58, of Vienna Twp., OH passed away at 7:36 PM Saturday, March 27, 2010 in the emergency room of Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Mr. Evans was born on July 15, 1951 in Youngstown, OH the son of the late Arthur M. and Bernice A. (McDonald) Evans. He was a 1971 graduate of Mathews High School and went on to receive a degree in Heavy Equipment Operation. As a machinist for more than twenty-five years, Gary traveled to many job sites and had last worked in Florida for Maddox Foundry and Machine Works. Gary was an active man who enjoyed coaching his daughters in softball, and having his "Relax Time" by going fishing. He had a passion for collecting oil lamps, and had done so for many years and had a total group of more than two-hundred pieces. As a hobby woodworker, Gary enjoyed building many fine cabinets to display and protect his lamp collection. He was of the Methodist faith and had attended the Vienna United Methodist Church. Mr. Evans is survived by his wife the former Sue E. Ash whom he married on June 9, 1973, and daughter Ashley both at home; brothers Robert (Betty) Evans of Kinsman, OH and Donald Evans of Ostrander, OH; his sisters Arlene "Sue" Evans of Kinsman, Judy (Steve) Stefanik of Vienna, OH; nine Nieces and Nephews and by seven Great-Nieces and Great-Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 10:30AM in the Vienna United Methodist Church 4265Warren Sharon Road, Vienna with the Rev. Ruth Roth officiating. Friends may call from 10:00AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in Vienna Township Cemetery. Gary was a humble man who enjoyed helping others, and as an Organ and Tissue Donor he demonstrated thoughtfulness and consideration for others by selflessly giving the Gift of Life. As a tribute to Gary’s life, his family asks that all contributions be made to the charity of the donors choice in lieu of flowers.
