George Baran Jr.

February 22, 1920 — November 23, 2015

Masury George Baran Jr., lifetime resident of Masury, passed away Monday morning, November 23, 2015 at his home. George was born on February 22, 1920 on the family farm in Sharpsville, PA, the oldest of 10 children, of the late George Baran Sr. and Mary (Krivak) Baran. He was a 1938 graduate of Brookfield High School and was employed with U.S. Steel for many years before retiring in 1983. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Sharon, PA. He loved to golf and was an avid bowler. He bowled in many leagues and tournaments. He also enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center. He loved spending time with his family, especially planning and cooking for their traditional 4th of July party for 38 years. He will be deeply missed by his two daughters Bonnie (Don) Gibson and Carol Komorek, both of Brookfield; five grandchildren, Lori Gibson of Brookfield, Don Gibson of Michigan, Jeff (Shelly) Komorek of Hubbard, Neil (Vicki) Komorek of Middleburg Heights, and Wendy (Brian) Horvath of Madison ; 10 great-grandchildren, Kali (Bryan) Waddell, Nathan, Lauren, Zachary, Asher, Alexandra, Eli, Levi, Noah, and Elizabeth; and one great-great-grandchild, Rowynn Waddell. He will also be deeply missed by his three sisters, Martha Anderson, Leona Baran, Jean Haas, and his brother William Baran. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Eileen V. Baran, whom he married on July 12, 1941 and passed away on January 29, 1994; three sisters, Ann Koniar, Marian Zippay, Elsie Baran, and two brothers, John Baran and Paul "Dick" Baran. Funeral services for George will be held on Saturday November 28, 2015 at 12:00PM at First Baptist Church in Sharon, PA located at 301 West State Street Sharon, PA 16146. Friends and family may call from 10:00-12:00PM prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at Brookfield Township Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife.
