George "Bugs" C. Fenton

July 17, 1933 — February 12, 2016

WARREN- George C. "Bugs" Fenton, 83, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Signature Health Care in Warren. He was born on July 17, 1933 in Warren, Ohio, son of the late George C. Fenton, Sr. and Faye (Beck) Fenton. Bugs married his wife, Penny Louise (Taylor) Fenton on October 12, 1963. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served for two years before being honorably discharged on May 27, 1955. Bugs was a retired Lieutenant from the Warren Fire Department where he worked for 33 years. He also worked for Warren Concrete for 30+ years serving in many different capacities. Bugs was a lifelong member at the YMCA in Warren. He was an Ohio High School Athletic Association Basketball Official for 41 years and was an ASA Umpire for 30+ years. In 1997 he was inducted into the Ohio Handball Hall of Fame. Bugs was always active and athletic, and was a member of many sports teams and leagues over his life. Bugs was also a family man- he was a devoted father and husband who always provided for his family. He was never a man that wanted recognition for his accomplishments, but his family was very proud of him. Over the years, Bugs was an avid fan and supporter of his children when it came to their sports and lives; he even proudly attended his daughters' clarinet concerts. When he became a grandpa he continued to support his grandchildren with their sports and activities, always being proud of their endeavors. He will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to have been a part of his wonderful life. Mr. Fenton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Penny Fenton; daughter, Stephanie Fenton and her children, Heather Coldwell and Jacob Coldwell; first son, Daniel (Michelle) Fenton and their children, Nicole Fenton and Amanda Fenton; and his second son, Douglas Fenton and his children, Tyler Fenton and Christopher Fenton; his sister, Ruth Lewis and her children, Jane Lewis-Price, John Lewis and Dave Lewis and all of their children; and a sister-in-law, Carol Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, William Lewis and Clifford Taylor. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
