George D. Kurpe

George D. Kurpe of 7669 Drake Stateline Rd., Burghill, Ohio, died Friday (2-3-06) at 9:10 PM in the Emergency Room of Sharon Regional Health Care System after a sudden illness. He was 62. Mr. Kurpe was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on January 6, 1944, a son of George and Julia (Lutz) Kurpe. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1962 and was a Quarter Master in the U.S. Army Reserves #858 Farrell Division. George was the Owner/Operator of Laddie’s Sky Club, Masury, Ohio, for over 35 years. In his spare time, George was an avid collector & restorer of classic cars. He enjoyed watching stockcar racing & playing the Lottery. He especially loved spending time with his family & friends and was always there to give advice. He will forever remain a legend in everyone’s heart. Survivors include: wife, Laurine “Laddie” (Marmion) Kurpe, whom he married August 29, 1970; 3 children, Krista Kurpe, McDonald, OH, U.S. Army Capt. George Kurpe, II & his wife U.S. Army Capt. Sarah Kurpe, Spring Lake, NC, and Kendra Kurpe, Sharon, PA; sister, Ella Louise Patterson, Cortland, OH; 2 brothers, Bill Kurpe, Mercer, PA, & Andy Lutz, Hermitage, PA; and nieces & nephews that he cared for like his own children. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Masury, with Rev. Frank Zanni, officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-8 PM with the family present from 4-8 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, OH. Entombment will be in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Hermitage, PA.
