George F. Richard, of Austintown, passed away at 12:47 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his family by his side after a six week battle with cancer. He was 60 years old. George was born on June 29, 1950 in Youngstown the son of the late George and Catherine (Sonoga) Richard and was a 1969 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. George was currently working for the last 17 years for B&I Management in the maintenance department. Prior to his employment with B&I Management, George worked for Youngstown Welding and Engineering for 25years until its closing. George enjoyed going to Mountaineer Casino, frequenting flea markets and collecting antiques. Most of all, George enjoyed spoiling and loving his grandchildren. George is survived by his wife of 29 years the former Linda M. Thomas whom he married on March 28, 1981 and together they shared the love of four children; Tracy L. Thomas of Girard, Heather M. Waller of Girard, Chad W. (Raquel) Richard of Lowellville and George S. (fiance Nicole Cooper) Richard of Austintown; and eight grandchildren Caitlin Richard, Milena Agee, Maridee Waller, Constance Buzzelli, Alysabeth Waller, Bryan Lazar, Destiny Richard and Taylor Nicole Richard, who preceded him in death. George is also survived by his mother-in-law Margaret (Haught) Thomas of Austintown and his siblings; Albert Venosky, Patty Mountford, Kathleen Chicase, Dolores (Jack) Willison, Sally Umstead, Joseph (JoAnn) Venosky, a sister-in-law Judy "Cookie" (Bolenbach) Venosky and by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by two brothers Richard and Stanley Venosky and his father-in-law Stanley Thomas. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 5 until 8 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio 44515. A Funeral Service with Pastor David Dennis of Wedgewood Park Evangelical Church will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in the funeral home, followed by a luncheon to take place at the Family Life Center of Wedgewood Park Evangelical Church, 1944 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44511. The family suggests any wishing to make donations in George's name that they direct them to Relay for Life.
