George Henry, Jr., age 87, of Warren, died Thursday morning, March 25, 2010, at his home in Warren. He was born July 13, 1922 in Somerset, Pa. the son of the late George Wesley Henry and Verna Rebecca (Brendle) Henry. He was a Warren resident since 1942, moving here from Pennsylvania. George attended the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh. He was a charter and active member, since it began in 1944, of the Warren Club of the Deaf and was an active member of the Ohio Assoc. of the Deaf. George was past president and held other offices in both of these organizations. He retired in 1986 as a pipe cutter at Van Huffel Sheet and Tube, where he worked for 33 years. Following his retirement, he sold and repaired telephones for the deaf. George played basketball for the Warren Club of the Deaf and bowled on their bowling team, as well as the Van Huffel bowling team. He was a baseball and football fan and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a handyman and gardener and loved traveling with his wife, having visited 48 states, including Hawaii. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maria (Wronkovich) Henry, whom he married August 2, 1947; two daughters, Rose M. (Robert) Bright of Warren and Rebecca A. (David) Simpson of Burton, Mich.; five grandchildren, Cassandra (Rich) Chamberlain, Kevin (Renee) Strock, Carrie (Scott) Molner, Carl (Sarah) Simpson and Alicia (Ronnie) Richards and 11 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Blaine and Kenneth Henry and one sister, Luella Polan all preceded him in death. Arrangements are being handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11:00 am Monday, March 29, 2010. Burial will be at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren Club of the Deaf, 1601 North Park Ave., Warren 44483.
