George Houston Perry

George Houston Perry of Vienna, Ohio died Wednesday morning, January 15, 2014, at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, Ohio. He was born December 11, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the second son of the late George H. Perry and Grace (Wolford) Perry. George was a graduate of Metuchen High School in Metuchen, New Jersey where, in his senior year, he was an all-state lineman in football and was voted "wittiest" in his class. He also served in the 82nd Airborne and was stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. George received his bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina, his master's degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, and his doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from Catholic University of America. He worked in healthcare for over thirty years and served as the CEO of Belmont Pines Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio for the past ten years. George loved travel, even visiting all seven continents and reaching the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, thoroughly enjoyed watching college football, and was an avid reader. He also was known for his ability to infuse humor into almost any situation. George is survived by his wife Patricia "Patsy" (Chotin) Perry of Vienna, Ohio; his two daughters, Allyson (Mark) Madore of Carrollton, Texas, and Jennifer Perry of Cincinnati, Ohio; his step son David W. Leche of St. Claire Shores, Michigan; his brother John (Kathleen) Perry of New York City, New York; and his sister Sandra (Penn) Yeatman of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, January, 17, 2014, and from 9 to10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE in Warren. The service will also be held at Roberts-Clark Chapel following the Saturday morning viewing and will be officiated by Reverend Maxwell Grant of Greenwich, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, Ames Family Hospice House, 30080 Hospice Way, Westlake, Ohio 44145 or to a charity of one's choice.
