George Mayer, Sr.

Canfield- Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home-Canfield Chapel for George Mayer, age 75 of Canfield who died early Wednesday morning at his home. George was born June 1, 1931 in Yugoslavia and was the son of the late Ignaz and Franziska (Quintus) Mayer. He came to the United States in 1956. George retired in 1988 from General Motors- Lordstown Plant where he had worked in the cushion department. He was a member of St. Charles Church in Boardman and had served in the U.S. Army. George is survived by his wife, the former Sabina Hauck whom he married Feb. 23, 1957. He leaves two sons, George Mayer, Jr. of Canfield and Gerhard (Lois) Mayer of Austintown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Friday.
