George Merle Mcginnis

Services will be held at 7 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for George Merle McGinnis, 75, of Girard who passed away Friday morning in Hospice House. George was born August 28, 1933 in Altoona PA, the son of Merle George and Effie Mae (Taylor) McGinnis. He was a welder by trade and worked for the Brier Hill Sheet and Tube for 30 years until 1978. George then worked for the Girard City School for 2 years and retired in 1998 from Geneva Steel Blanking Co. He was a former member of the Church of the Nazarene in Youngstown. George's hobbies included collecting collections. He leaves his wife the former Tessie Morton whom he married July 28, 1956, ten children; Donna Ann Rhoads of Girard, Patricia Kay (Jeffery) Hutcheson of Brewton AL, Virginia Mae Singh of Austintown, George Michael (Christina) McGinnis of Youngstown, Timothy Shane (Vickie) McGinnis of Austintown, Tessie M. Forsythe of Struthers, Patrick Shawn (Marion) McGinnis of Youngstown, Scott Allan (Jerri) McGinnis of Liberty, Robert Lee McGinnis of Youngstown, and Katrina Marie McGinnis of Girard, 18 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, George is preceded in death by a great granddaughter, one brother, and eleven sisters. Friends may call 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
