George Scharsu

George Scharsu Youngstown-- Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday May 16, 2014 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown for George Scharsu, 91, who died early Tuesday morning at Briarfield at Ashley Circle. Mr. Scharsu was born April 6, 1923 in Canfield Ohio, to the late Bernard and Marie (Schnell) Scharsu. George worked for Chester Haenny and Asssociates as a land surveyor and later became owner of the company. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He was a member of Mahoning Methodist Church and the Trumbull-Mahoning County Beagle Club for over 60 years. He leaves behind his wife Emma (Breese) Scharsu whom he married on Feb. 18, 1956, his sons Douglas (Rachelle) Scharsu of Canfield and Alan (Emily) Scharsu of Charlotte, N.C., and his grandchildren Abigail and Benjamin Scharsu. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. . He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bernard Scharsu, Elsie Dieter, Ed Scharsu, Joanne Schinker and John Scharsu. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8pm and Friday from 9 until the time of services at 10am at Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown.
