George W. Kern

Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in North Jackson for George W. Kern who passed away Wednesday morning at North Side Medical Center. George was born April 10, 1937 in McKeesport, PA a son of the late George and Josephine (Strong) Kern and came to this area in 1970. He was a member of St. James Church, an electrician at General Motors Fabricating Division for 22 years retiring in 1992, a member of UAW Local 1714, past 4-H advisor, volunteer with the American Lung Association and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife Virginia whom he married June 28, 1965; three daughters: Tina (Frank) Imburgia of Ellsworth, Tammy Kern of Youngstown and Tracey (Dan) Brown of Ellsworth; one sister Josephine Prozy of Prosperity, PA; and five grandchildren Katelynn, Kimberly, Kristen, Andrew, and Nicholas. Material contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel from 5-8 PM Friday.
