Gerald L. Brown

May 11, 1935 — September 11, 2022

AUSTINTOWN-Gerald L. Brown, 87, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022. He was born May 11, 1935 in Coitsville, a son of Paul and Martha (Allen) Brown Harry. Gerald was known by many nicknames, including Jerry, Perk and Brownie. A 1953 graduate of Union High School, Jerry helped to support his family at a very young age with various jobs. Working at Ward Bakery, with the freedom of driving a delivery truck, was one of his favorites. Later, he moved on to Metal Carbide and then Eppinger Concrete in New Bedford, PA. In 1966, he began with the newly opened General Motors Assembly Plant in Lordstown, retiring after almost thirty years. Serving in the U.S. Army, he was stationed in Germany from 1958 until 1964. Jerry was known for always offering to lend a hand and do for others, for his calmness, his subtle humor and also for his mischievous ways-especially with his grandchildren. Jerry is survived by his loving companion of fourteen years, Carol Jenkins; his children, Ron (Darlene) Brown of Boardman, Peggy (Don) Fisher of Austintown and Amy (Scott) Jenkins of Powell, OH; his brother, Russell Brown of San Jose, CA and his sister, Dorothy (Pat) Cowher of Westerville, OH and younger brothers, Dan, Ken and Tim Brown; his grandchildren, Dr. Ron (Natasha) Brown, Matthew (Lauren) Brown and Jennifer Brown, all of the Columbus area; Emily Fisher of Niles and Brandon Fisher of Austintown and David Jenkins and Allie Jenkins of Powell and great-grandchildren, Cooper, Addilyn, Olivia and Dev. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph and his wife of 43 years, Etta (Cowher) Brown. Finding happiness again with Carol, Jerry enjoyed their 12 years in Myrtle Beach before returning to Ohio to be closer to family. They loved their bike rides and the companionship of their dogs, Lulu and Jesse. Family and friends may call from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17th at Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Angels for Animals at www.angelsforanimals.org.
