Geraldine M. Patterson

Geraldine M. Patterson, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown following complications of a stroke. She was 85 years old. Mrs. Patterson was born on June 15, 1925 in Youngstown the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Main) Jones and attended Chaney High School. A devout homemaker, Mrs. Patterson was a longtime and active member of Mahoning United Methodist Church and belonged to its Wesmeth Class and was a communion distributor, greeter and volunteered in the church kitchen. Most of all, Mrs. Patterson was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending with her grandchildren and great grandchild. Mrs. Patterson was married on March 22, 1943 to William H. Patterson and they were married for 45 years until his passing on June 11, 1988. Mrs. Patterson is survived by three children: twin sons Larry (Janice) Patterson of Youngstown and Gary (Marilyn) Patterson of Mineral Ridge; a daughter Loraine (Howard) Shapiro of Monroeville, PA; a brother Rolland (Mary Ellen) Jones of Chesapeake, VA; four grandchildren David Patterson, Carrie (Mason) Seachrist, Lindsey (John) Schneider and Brendan (fiancée Lisa Hoffman) Shapiro; a great grandson Grant Seachrist and several dear nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by three sisters Dolores Sudimak, Shirley Quimby and Charlotte Jones. Calling hours for Mrs. Patterson will take place on Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio, 44515. A Funeral Service will take place with Rev. Joyce Lawson officiating at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 in Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave, Youngstown, Ohio 44509, preceded by calling hours from 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mrs. Patterson’s name to Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave, Youngstown, Ohio 44509.
