Gladys Marie Thornton

Gladys M. Thornton, 71, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday January 11, 2008 at 2:21PM. She was born the daughter of the late James Sr. and Florence (Baker) Moore in Warren, Ohio on May 4, 1936. A lifetime area resident, Gladys was currently employed as a secretary for King Bros in Bristolville. Gladys was a member of Lady Moose; she enjoyed attending church, shopping, most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and entertaining family and friends. For all who knew Gladys she will be remembered as a caring and giving person. Gladys is survived by her two sons, Timothy (Sherrie) of Euclid, Gregory of Mecca; two grandkids, Cheyenne of Johnston, Scott of Cortland; a sister Nioma Jordan of Andover; and several nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Duane on December 28, 2000, whom she married April 6, 1957. Together they shared 43 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death is a daughter Diane Marie and a brother James Jr. Family will be receiving friends on Monday January 14, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Shafer Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland. The Rev. Ron McIlvaine will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday January 15, 2008 at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at West Mecca Cemetery following the service.
