Gladys Ryhal

Gladys Ryhal of Mercer, Pennsylvania, formerly of 55 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, Pennsylvania, died at 10:58 AM Sunday (3-16-2008) in the Woodland Place Nursing Home, Mercer, following an extended illness. She was 91. Mrs. Ryhal was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania on February 3, 1917, a daughter of Frederick and Sarah Ann (Taylor) Hough. A 1936 graduate from Summit High School, Harmonsburg, Pennsylvania, Gladys retired in 1985 as a Music Teacher for Bells Music Center, Warren, Ohio. She was a member of the Shenango Valley Baptist Church and a former member of the Hartford Community Church. She was also a member of the Musician Union #187. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing in her band called "Gladys & Company" for over 25 years. Survivors include: her children, James W. Ryhal, Jr. and his wife Barbara, Hubbard, OH, Thomas A. Ryhal, Jacksonville, FL, Harold Ryhal and his wife Linda, Greenville, PA, and Linda Bailey, Brookfield, OH; her 17 grandchildren; her 36 great-grandchildren; and her 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her son, Timothy A. Ryhal; by her daughters, Shirley Mae Ryhal, Beverly R. Borger, and Barbara Ann Truax; by her brothers, Fred and Jack Hough; and by her sisters, Nellie Choffel and Florence Lehman. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday (3-20-2008) at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, with Rev. Dan Collmus, Pastor at Woodland Place, Mercer. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Burial will be in Hartford Township Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
