Gladys Virginia Blessing

Gladys Virginia Blessing, age 98 of Howland Township, died on May 24, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Gladys was born on October 29, 1916 in Crimora, Virginia, a daughter of the late John and Josephine (Stogdall) Gochenour. In 1935 Gladys met the love of her life Frank A. Blessing, they moved to Ohio in 1936. Gladys married Frank on October 31, 1936 and he passed away on June 22, 1967. She was a homemaker, and in her spare time she enjoyed cooking, shopping, bowling, gardening and traveling. Gladys also walked the mall every day. She is survived by 8 children, Frank (Sue) Blessing, of Boardman, Edward (JoAnn) Blessing, of Vienna, Thomas ( Darlene) Blessing, of Southington, Teddy (Debbie) Blessing, of Warren, Terry (Mary Lou) Blessing, from Houston, TX, Janie (Mike) Gerrick, of Warren, Jeanne (Joe) Celedonia, of Warren; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren;2 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Glenn Gochenour, from Waynesboro Virginia Besides her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Frank, and a son Harry Blessing. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday May 29, 2015 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. NE Warren, OH 44484. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Howland Community Church, 198 Niles Cortland Rd SE Warren, 44484 or Forest Chapel Church, 36 Crimora Mine RD, Crimora VA, 24431 where Gladys was a member before relocating to Ohio.
