Goldie F. Norton

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Goldie F. Norton of Salem and formerly Canfield who passed away on Monday morning at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Goldie was born September 10, 1923 in Kittanning, PA the daughter of Otho C. and Myrtle M. (Crissman) Wyant. A homemaker, Goldie collected recipes, was an excellent cook, and had once won a national award in the “Who’s Cooking What in America” cook book for her “Grape” pie. She was a member of the Austintown Community Church, a former member of the Canfield A.A.R.P. and loved to travel especially to the Caribbean. Goldie leaves her daughter Carol (Charles) Crowther of Ellsworth and two brothers: Gary Wyant of Kittanning, PA and Don Wyant of North Ridgeland Hills, TX. She also leaves a sister Velda I. Toth of Boardman and two sisters in law: Jean Wyant of Poland, OH, and Delores Swarmer of Kittanning, PA. Goldie also leaves two grandchildren: Jennifer (Tom) King of Canfield and Jason Crowther of Phoenix, AZ, as well as two great-granddaughters: Abigail and Kate King. Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by her husband William R. Norton whom she married March 23, 1947 and passed away on April 28, 1989. She was also preceded in death by a sister Mary Howlett and three brothers: William, Clyde, and Leroy Wyant. Friends and family may call from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Entombment will take place in the Allegheny Cemetery Temple of Memories Mausoleum in Pittsburgh. Memorial contributions may be sent to either the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
