Goldie Klamut

Goldie M. Klamut, 79, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 in Warren, Ohio. She was born on July 10, 1934 in Glencoe, Ohio to the late, Eli and Mary (Kaluger) Mistovich. Goldie graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1952. She then went on to attend the Ruth Brandt School of Nursing and graduated in 1955. Goldie worked as a Registered Nurse and helped many patients at the University Hospital in Cleveland, Warren General Hospital, American Red Cross blood drives, Gillettes Nursing Home and other various nursing homes. While Goldie worked at University Hospital, she assisted Dr. Claude Beck, MD, with many surgeries; Dr. Beck has received worldwide recognition for his work as a cardiologist and was the first open heart surgeon in Ohio. Goldie was also a real estate agent for many years. She volunteered for Cortland Area Cares and served as a poll worker greeting many voters throughout years in Cortland. Goldie was a member of Cortland Christian Church where she was an active participant in many of the church's functions. She loved gardening, crocheting and various puzzles. Goldie and her husband, John Klamut, were married on February 20, 1960. Throughout their 54 years of marriage they traveled and camped all over the United States. They enjoyed attending Navy Conventions and meeting friends old and new. Goldie was a loving wife and mother, always taking care of her husband and children. She will be greatly missed by many people. She is survived by her husband, John; children, Jill (Michael) Yahner, Justin Klamut and Glen (Kelly) Klamut; grandchildren, Greer, Bryn, Katie, Alan and Nathan; and many nieces and nephews. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stephen and sisters, Mary, Misty and Hilda. Funeral services for Goldie will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Cortland Christian Church at 2:30pm. Calling hours will be held prior to services at the church from 11:00 to 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel.
