Grover Leon Talkington

WARREN- Grover L. "Leon" Talkington, 84, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Heritage Manor in Youngstown. He was born on September 18, 1932 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, son of the late, Gordon and Gladys (Johnson) Talkington. Leon was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. Leon worked for Republic Steel for 34 years and after retiring, he went on to drive for Sanfrey Expedited Services for 20 additional years. He married his late wife, Ola (Freeman) Talkington on August 4, 1955 and they were married for 42 years before her passing on December 26, 1998. Leon was a member of the Carol F. Clapp Masonic Lodge No. 655 and the Beacon of Hope Church, both in Warren. He enjoyed listening to country and bluegrass music, and his favorite past time was driving. Leon will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Leon is survived by his daughter, Drusella "Dru" (Richard) Winings and son, Ralph Talkington; three grandsons, Benjamin Winings, Andrew Winings and Brennan Talkington; two great granddaughters, Rilee and Aubree Winings; sister, Mary Emma Hawkins and a brother, Rex (Zadah) Talkington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Talkington; his parents, and a brother, Roger Talkington. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, from 5:00 to 7:00PM. A Masonic service by the Carol F Clapp Lodge will take place prior to calling hours at the funeral home, beginning at 4:45PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the funeral home at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
