Guadalupe Flores

YOUNGSTOWN- Guadalupe Flores, 93, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014. She was born in McPherson Kansas on February 26, 1921, to the late Francisco and Marcos (Mendez) Lopez. Guadalupe was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She was also a member of the Mexican Mutual Society of Youngstown and affiliated with the International Institute. Guadalupe was a skilled seamstress that worked for The Bride and Formal Shop, and for JC Penny as a bridal gown seamstress. She also enjoyed gathering with her friends who fondly referred to themselves as the "Kibbitz Club." Guadalupe will be remembered for her love of sewing, embroidery, and cookingteaching her children and even grandchildren. She still made tortillas from scratch almost daily, even into her 90's. She will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to mourn Guadalupe's passing are her children, Rachel Flasco, Frank Flores, and Joseph Flores; her 14 grandchildren; and her numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Guadalupe is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 46 years, Jesus B. Flores; her son, Salvador Flores; her granddaughter, Lori Lynn Flores; her brother, Frank Lopez; and her sisters, Mary Suarez, Sue Palomera, and Clara Ponce. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Vista Care Center at the Ridge and Harbor Lights Hospice for their wonderful and loving care. An inurnment will take place on a later date at Calvary Cemetery. Final arrangements entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown.
