WARREN, OH.- Harold E. Cecil, 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland Twp., Ohio. He was born on February 17, 1924 to Frank and Ona (Gardner) Cecil in Uhrichsville, Ohio. Harold served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII (1942 to 1945) and the Korean War (1951 to 1952). He was a 1950 graduate of Ohio University, where he majored in Accounting and was the Theta Chi Fraternity President. He went on to work for 31 years at Van Huffel Tube, retiring in 1983. Harold was a long time member of the Elks and Central Christian Church, and was a fixture at Global Fitness. He was an avid golfer (having 7 career holes in one), fitness buff and an O.S.U. football fan. He enjoyed spending his winters in Hutchinson Island, Florida at Ocean Village. Harold is survived by his two children, Dr. Mark (Ginger) Cecil of Canton, OH and Beth E. Cecil of Warren, OH; three grandchildren, Megan, Andrew and Patrick; four nieces and a nephew; a sister, Opal Hurd of Upper Arlington; a brother, Warren Cecil of Naples, Florida; and his best pal, Kobe. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Lewis Cecil; a brother, Glenn G. Cecil and his parents, Ona and Frank Cecil. The family wishes to thank the many dedicated caregivers from Shepherd of the Valley in Howland, St. Joseph Hospital, HMCare and Hillside Hospital whose compassionate caring lifted our spirits and brightened our day. Private family services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. As a special request, please vote for Hillary in 2016.
