Harold R. Leipheimer, 68 of Brookfield, died Saturday afternoon, June 9, 2018, at his home following an extended illness. He was born December 6, 1949 in Sharon, Pa. the son of the late Harold Clarence and Wilma Rae Lloyd Leipheimer. He and his wife, Janice and their family lived in Hubbard for several years. Harold was a 1968 graduate of Brookfield High School. He served as a sergeant in the Air Force in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1973, serving as a helicopter mechanic for a year in Vietnam and 6 months in Thailand. He then worked for many years in the x-ray department at General American in Masury until the company closed and then at the Vindicator in security for several years. Harold was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hubbard. He loved model railroading and enjoyed camping, playing cards and was an avid baseball fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice J. Swogger Leipheimer, whom he married May 16, 1970; two sons, Michael Richard (Kimberly) Leipheimer of Clarksville, Tenn. and Ricky Allen Leipheimer of Brookfield; two daughters, Cindy Jean (Steve) Tremayne of Hubbard and Erica D. (Ryan) Shankle of Deerfield; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Kathryn Leipheimer, Tiffany and Megan Tremayne, Natalie Leipheimer, Gwendolyn Manda and Barrett Shankle; one sister, Joyce (James) Nodge of Palmyra, Pa. and three brothers, Robert (Sandy) of Conneautville, William (Tami) of Fredonia and David of Sharon. One grandson, Marcus Allen Leipheimer died in 2017 and one sister, Barbara Miller also preceded him in death. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be at Brookfield Township Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be mad to the Alzheimers Assoc., 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601.
