Harold Whaley

March 20, 1929 — January 8, 2013

Harold Whaley, 83, of Diamond, passed away peacefully, Jan. 8, 2013, at his residence, with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 20, 1929, in Salem, OH, the son of the late Ira Lee and Grace Whaley. Harold worked at Republic Steel, LTV Steel and WCI from 1955, until his retirement in 1996. He was also a bus driver for Labrae Schools and a volunteer fire fighter with Braceville, OH. He was a member of First Federated Church and enjoyed several years of square dancing with the Salem Square Wheels, Cross Trailers, and Jugs Station. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, of 65 years, Jean Marie (Eckman), whom he married in 1948, three sons; David William Whaley, of Colorado Springs, CO, Timothy Alan (Mickey) Whaley, of Diamond, OH, and Jonathon Lee (Cheryl Ann) Whaley, of Hickory, PA, two sisters; Juanita Hoffmann, Betty Younkers, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by a brother Marvin Whaley, a sister Mary Clayton and a grandson Adam.. In keeping with Harold's wishes he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
