A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10am Thursday at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Canfield for Harriet J. Frommelt, 85, who died Saturday afternoon at the Hospice House in Poland. She was born March 26, 1925 in Conneautville, PA, a daughter of Harry and Reba (Miller) DeGroodt. She was a 1943 graduate of Espyville High School in Pennsylvania, and she spent her adult life as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. She was also a member of the St. Joseph's Church Ladies Guild. She enjoyed reading and she was an avid card player and belonged to a card club for many years. She married George J. Frommelt on July 29, 1944 and he preceded her in death March 6, 2001. She is survived by four children; George (Susan) Frommelt of Austintown, John (Deborah) Frommelt of Canfield, Jane (David) Bowman of Fort Myers, FL, and Lisa (Greg) McCormick of Canfield. She also leaves behind a daughter in law, Jacqueline Frommelt of Youngstown; a sister, Florence (Jack) Shina of Greensboro, NC; fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by two sons; Geoffrey and Barry Frommelt, and a brother Forrest DeGroodt. Friends may call from 4-7pm Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Harriet's family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hospice House in her memory.
