Harris Beebe

June 9, 1923 — April 3, 2012

Jerry was born in Mineral Ridge on June 9, 1923, a son of Harris and Isabelle M. Rosser Beebe. He passed away April 3, 2012 at his home. After his years at Mineral Ridge High School, during which he played football for the Ridge Rams, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1941. He served for three years during World War II as an aviation electronics technician. He especially enjoyed his time while stationed in Hawaii and California. It was while in California he bought his first motorcycle - a 1941 Harley Davidson KnuckleHead. He received his honorable military discharge on May 13, 1946. Jerry returned to Youngstown and attended Youngtown College. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1950 with a major in Mathematics. He would later return to Kent State University for his master's degree. Jerry's first teaching position was at his own hometown high school of Mineral Ridge, where he taught for several years. He was also active on the school board. He was also an active member of the Mineral Ridge United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. Jerry also belonged to the Wickliffe Presbyterian Church in Austintown in later years. Jerry was employed at General Motors Packard Electric Division in Warren as an Industrial Engineer, and received many promotions throughout his 30 years career ranging from work standards engineer up to supervising engineer in his plant. He belonged to the Trumbull County Genealogical Society, enjoyed spending time with his family and going on family vacations. On the occasion of his 50th wedding anniversary, he and Mary Lou, renewed their vows in Gatlinburg, TN. He was an avid baseball fan and coin collector. He married Mary Lou Pugh Beebe on July 20, 1951 at Mineral Ridge United Methodist Church. She was his loving wife until October 27, 2007. He also leaves behind three children: Jerry L. (Patricia) Beebe of San Diego, CA, Jill Kaneski of Austintown and Jim (Sandy) Beebe of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren: Danielle Beebe of San Diego, CA, Lisa Kaneski of Poland, and Jim Kaneski of Austintown. He also leaves to cherish his memory a great granddaughter Kailyn Marie Assion, of Poland, who was the apple of his eye and could always make Papa smile. Additionally, he leaves behind two very special friends who were always there when needed: Julia Emch and Neil "Lou" Pallante. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother Tom and an infant son. The family would like to thank Dr. Ted Faull and his caring staff for all their constant care and support. To the staff at Southern Care, our Family thanks you for the compassion and devotion in the care of our father. Our family has been extremely fortunate and would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to each of the special caregivers that have given of themselves for the past four years to care for our father as if her was their own. We could not have done this without your support. Thank you to Margaret, Lori, Carol, Ashly, Shirley, Andrea, Sue T. and Sue S.
