Harry A. Martin, age 91, of Austintown passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Born January 31, 1925 in Austintown, he was the son of Earl and Esther (Klem) Martin. Harry served his country during WWII as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 101st Military Police Battalion serving in Italy; upon returning home, he went to Fort Oglethorpe in Georgia where he served as a Military Police Officer until his discharge. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked as a structural iron worker from 1948 until 1955 working for the American Bridge Company Local 207; he went on to work as a carpenter in Local 171 until 1987 at which time he retired. He was a member of the Ellsworth VFW as well as the NRA. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Shirley (Evans) whom he married on June 27, 1948; sons Leslie and Harry; grand-children: Melissa (Aaron), Sherry, John, and Matthew; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey, great-grand-daughter Samantha; a brother Leroy and sisters Eleanor Bellay and Evelyn Piccione. Funeral Services will be held at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 2:00PM where friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Brunstetter Cemetery.
