HARRY E. LYON, 97 BOARDMAN-There will be a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Boardman United Methodist Church for Harry E. Lyon, 97, who died October 18th at Shepherd of the Valley-Boardman. Harry was born December 8, 1918 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Harry E. and Mabel C. Dolby Lyon, Sr. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in mechanical engineering and served in W.W. II as an officer in the Navy. Following his marriage in 1944 to the former Arlene Williams, he lived and raised his family in Canfield. Harry worked for Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 43 years, holding many high positions with them in Youngstown and later in McCandless Township, PA where he retired in 1984. He was a strong supporter of his community and served on the zoning board, planning commission and as a town councilman for McCandless Township for 32 years from 1974 to 2006. Harry loved to hunt, golf and especially enjoyed fishing and family times at his camp site on the Clarion River. His family and friends will remember him as a person who loved life and the beauty of nature. His legacy is by example, a person who lived with honesty, hard work, enthusiasm, humor and love for his family, his community and his friends. Harry is survived by his son Barry (Joan) Lyon of Wadsworth; his daughter, Sharie (Ed) Anderson of Boardman; seven grandchildren and ten gr. grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his wife Arlene in 1982 and his sisters, Virginia Rice and Muriel Stinson. Friends may call from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the Service at the church.
