Canfield- Harry L. Faucett Jr. passed away Thursday afternoon at his residence. Mr. Faucett was born March 31, 1930, son of Harry and Edna Faucett, in Upper Darby, PA., a suburb of Philadelphia. He moved to Canfield five years later, graduated from Canfield High School in 1948, attended Youngstown College, and remained a proud, life-long resident of Canfield. Mr. Faucett was in the Naval Reserves for 12 years and served as a volunteer fireman for Canfield as well. He attended the Canfield United Methodist Church and worked as an agent for State Farm Insurance for 41 years, retiring in 1997. He was enjoying his retirement and always said that “now everyday feels like Saturday.” Mr. Faucett was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers, Youngstown State Penguins and the Canfield Cardinals. He was also an avid golfer and was known to golf even in 30 degree weather. Mr. Faucett was especially proud of being a member of the Canfield Community Concert Band. He was an original founding member of the band in 1977, playing his trumpet and managing the band for the past 28 years. He also provided an invaluable service with his trumpet to deceased veteran’s families by playing “Taps” at military funerals with Ellsworth VFW Post 9571 which he was an honorary member of. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Floy Faucettt. Mr. Faucett leaves his wife, Janet (Magill) Faucett whom he married Feb. 13, 1954. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. He also leaves his loving daughter Sandy Flaviani, son in law Dominic and grandson Curtis. He will be greatly missed by his family and all of the many friends who knew and loved him. Harry knew no strangers, only friends he hadn’t met yet. He had a zest for life and impacted many lives. Funeral services will be 11 am Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel where friends may call from 5-8 pm Sunday. The family requests that Memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Canfield United Methodist Church or the Ellsworth VFW Post 9571 in care of the family
