Harry P. Russell

Austintown- Funeral services will be held at 8 pm Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Harry Russell who passed away peacefully Sunday evening at his residence surrounded by his family. Harry was born August 17, 1930, in Austintown the son of Charles F. and Beatrice (Pershing) Russell. Harry taught at the Gordon James Vocational School in Lordstown and also taught at the Mahoning County Vocational School in Canfield, teaching Diesel and Air Craft mechanics. Harry never retired he was always teaching until his passing. He graduated from Fitch High School in 1948 then entered into the Air Force during the Korean War where he began his teaching career. Harry received his teaching degree from Kent State. He was a lifelong member of the Korean War Vets, member of Smith Corners United Methodist Church and was known to all as the "Good Neighbor". He also was a member of the Ohio Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman. Harry is survived by his wife the former Florence M. Wardle whom he married in 1951, children; Polly A. (Sean) Liscic of Austintown, Linda B. (Ben) Erikson of New Mexico, Edna M. (Mark) West of Berlin Center, Robert F. Russell of Carrollton and LeRoy C. Russell of Austintown. He is also survived by brothers, John (Carol) Russell, Carl Russell, sister Ruth (Jay) Mechling all of Austintown and a foster sister Patricia Mobey. Harry leaves his grandchildren; ChiAnne, Colleen, Sarah & Melisa Trickett, Katrina Stainton, Anton J. Russell, Carl E. Russell, Amber N. Russell and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Thomas. Family and friends may call from 5-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home prior to services. Burial will be held at 10 am Friday at Brunstetter Cemetery in Austintown with Military Honors. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to MVI Hospice Care.
