Hazel B Bowen

Hazel Blanch Bowen, 83, of Howland Twp. passed away 12:15 PM Monday Aug. 8, 2011 at Gillette Nursing Home following a long term illness. She was born April 19, 1928 in Butler, PA the daughter of Merle and Blanch (Oesterling) Kurtz. Hazel was a Butler resident until her marriage to William F. Bowen June 20, 1949. He preceded her in death Mar.5, 1995. She also was preceded in death by 2 brothers Russell Kurtz and James Calvin Kurtz of Butler, PA. A Howland resident for 37 years, she was a former member of the Living Lord Lutheran Church. Hazel enjoyed bowling, bingo, gardening, canning, and baking. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Pamela Bowen-Carr with whom she made her home in Howland, and by a sister Dorothy M. Patton of Bonita Springs, FL. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of the Valley and Gillette Nursing Home staff for the excellent care Hazel received. There are no calling hours or services and cremation will take place. Roberts-Clark Chapel handled the arrangements.
