Hazel D. Bechtel

Hazel D. Bechtel of Cortland, OH, died at 5:00 PM Friday at her residence. She was 72. Mrs. Bechtel was born in Kittanning, PA on Sept. 9, 1934, a daughter of Jay Thomas and Maude McGuiness Schumaker. Hazel retired in 1993 from K-Mart, after 22 years as a Check Out Supervisor. She was a member of the PTA/PTO, very active in school functions while her children attended school. Survivors include: 4 children, Mrs. Stormi (Berry) Stuler of Charlotte, MI, Dan Bechtel of Vernon, OH, James Raymond Jr. (Carla) Bechtel of Vernon, OH, John Bechtel of Fowler, OH; 3 half brothers, Frank “Joe” Schumaker of Kittanning, PA, Jay Thomas Schumaker Jr. of Cleveland, OH, and Leroy Schumaker of Virginia Beach, VA; 2 half sisters, Peggy Ann Pella and Betty Heasley both of Kittanning, PA; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 2 great grandchildren on the way. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her step-mother, Kate Schumaker; 1 daughter, Terry Bechtel; 1 half brother, William Schumaker. Madasz Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
