Helen D. Christopher, 91, of Warren died 1:30 PM Saturday Dec.6, 2008 at St. Josephs Health Care Center following a brief illness. She was born Aug.1, 1917 in Denver, CO the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Pavlich) Dugan. An area resident for most of her life, Helen was formerly employed by Packard Electric, Crest Lanes, and she was a babysitter for several neighborhood children. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and enjoyed solving word-search puzzles, visiting with friends on the telephone, and especially spending time with her family. Her husband, Michael J. Christopher whom she married Aug.13, 1941 preceded her in death Jan.20, 1964. She also was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Jack, John, and Steve Dugan, and 2 sisters Mary Champ and Anne Kuhne. Helen will be sadly missed by 2 daughters Barbara Blackshere and fianc Donald Pohland of Howland, Margaret Palya with whom she made her home, 2 grandchildren whom she helped raise Timothy Blackshere and Robin Christopher, a great grandson Andrew Blackshere, and several nieces and nephews including special niece Stephanie Enasko of Howland. She also leaves her caregivers Donna Sopik, Dolores Dipetro, Norma Crank and her poodle dog Brandy Lee. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday Dec.9, 2008 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 6-8 Monday and for 1 hour prior to the service. The Rev. Charles Crumbley will officiate. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park. Material contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, OH 44512-2198.
