Helen E. Dankovich

Helen E. Dankovich of Fowler, Ohio, formerly of Brookfield Twp., Ohio, died at 1:50 PM Sunday (8-17-2008) in Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was 90. Mrs. Dankovich was born in Weirton, West Virginia on May 18, 1918, a daughter of Moses and Lydia Kovacs. A 1936 graduate from Sharon High School, Helen retired from the former Valley View Department Store, Brookfield, Ohio, where she had worked as a Sales Clerk in the Hardware Dept. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Masury, Ohio; Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Post #3984, Masury; and Ladies Auxiliary of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Dept. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, bingo, polka music, and her dogs, "Snookie & Beau". Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include: her children, Loretta Torma & her husband Karl, Brookfield, Susanne Pillitteri & her husband Paul, Fairhope, Alabama, and Alex Dankovich & his wife Diane, Canfield, Ohio; her grandchildren, Janine, Lisa, Paul, Michele, John, David, and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alexandra, and soon to be, Grace. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Sandor Dankovich, whom she married May 27, 1938, he died June 14, 1979; by her brother, Frank Schuller; and by her sisters, Marie Bable & Rose Kiernan. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday (8-21-2008) at the Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel, Brookfield, with Rev. Frank Zanni, Pastor. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Burial will be in Brookfield Township Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brookfield Township Fire Dept.
