Helen F. Plaskett, 91, passed away peacefully into the next life Sunday evening, January 18 at Hospice House. She was born in New Orleans, LA in 1923, the seventh of eight children of John Milton and Berthe' (Hubert') Fleuriet. Helen was a high school alumna of St. Joseph's Academy in New Orleans. As a young woman she worked as an operator at the local telephone company. In 1943 she married Karl Plaskett, a returning soldier whom she had met while he was on leave in New Orleans. They spent 31 years of marriage together before Karl's passing in 1974. Helen was the quintessential Southern belle, whose sparkling personality endeared her to many throughout her nearly 92 years of life. To family and close friends Helen was a deeply religious person and lifelong professional mom. She gloried in inspiring and teaching her seven children. Helen is survived by her children, Michael (Millie), Richard (Charlotte), John (Barbara), Patrick, and Gerald (Karrie). In addition to her children and their spouses she leaves 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her brother Joseph Bernard Fleuriet of New Orleans, as well as many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Theresa and son Timothy Plaskett as well as her beloved companion for many years, Russell C. Morgan Sr.. The family will receive friends from 10AM-11AM on Saturday, January 24 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. A memorial service will follow calling hours starting at 11AM. Final inurnment will take place on a later date at Lake Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to "Hospice of the Valley" in 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512
