Helen J. Cratsley of 674 South Albright-McKay Rd., Brookfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 9:15 AM Wednesday (5-7-2008) at home surrounded by her loving husband who devoted his life to caring for her over the past two years of her illness, her children, and little dog, Katie. She was 83. Mrs. Cratsley was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on March 3, 1925, a daughter of Hart and Doris (Woodworth) Shallop. Survivors include: her husband, William F. Cratsley, Sr., whom she married March 20, 1943; her children, Janet K. Scott & her husband Thomas, Philipsburg, PA, Donna J. Ischo, Canton, OH, Shirley A. Surgenavic & her husband Joe, New Castle, PA, Patricia C. Mills, Masury, OH, and William F. Cratsley, Jr. & his wife Debbie, Brookfield, OH; her brothers, Richard Shallop, NJ, Robert Shallop, Altoona, PA, and David Shallop, Erie, PA; her eleven grandchildren, David, Stephen, & Matthew Scott, Suzanne Dixon, Bryan Ischo, Heather Germadnik, Julieanne & Joseph Surgenavic, Melissa Sydlowski, Rebekah Patton, and Christopher Mills; and her fourteen great-grandchildren, Emma, Cole, Zetta, Vivian, Dominic, & Alexander Scott, Lorna & Reese Dixon, Madeleine & Graham Ischo, Fiona Germadnik, Mitchell Sydlowski, and Anthony & Angelina Patton. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her brother, Hart Shallop; and by her sister, Doris Maille; and by her great-granddaughter, Mia Eileen Patton. Internment will take place at Paynes Corner Christian Church only when her loving husband of 65 years can be laid to rest at her side.
